The Faith Walk
It all started at Camp Hardtner two years ago. That summer I was going into the eighth grade and was trilled to be at camp for the first time. Everyday we played games after games after games. Every night we had special event. Just so happened that the Friday of camp was the 13th of June. The counselors thought it would be fun to take a faith walk with one boy cabin and one girl cabin. They grouped the girl's cabins with a boy cabin and brought us through the woods and told us to look at the stars. Right as I looked up at the gorgeous nighttime sky, I heard a scream coming from the front of me. I looked to see what had happened and saw a dummy hanging from a tree. All of us started to panic and started running further into the woods, which wasn't such a good idea. Next thing we know we here a low, muffled sound coming from the left of us. Then we hear it, a chain saw, and heading fast in our direction. We all start sprinting and screaming as we run from the man with the mask. Finally we stop to catch our breath because we had out run him. As we are standing there I feel a hand on my shoulder, I turn to see a black figure with a screaming face. I scream and it lurches toward a kid named Jackson. As the figure grabs him he smacks it right in the face and knocks it to the ground. We start running again. Finally we see light, and head toward the pavilion shacking, with the palest visages. The counselors greet us and says how was your faith walk, and oh happy friday the thirteenth. I will never forget that night of horror and shock.

Nice Vocabulary! :) Ask anyone, The 8th graders go to a place called Mo Ranch every year and they had a "faith walk" too. Not too pleasant.
ReplyDeleteHey Eleanor.
ReplyDeleteA very similar chainsaw incident occurred at Mo Ranch when I was in 8th grade. I think that it scarred me for life. I could feel the sheer terror and panic all over again. The emotion really jumped off the page.
Sincerely, Sienna
Great use of descriptive words! I felt like I was there, but I'm not really sure if that is such a good thing considering the events occurring. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember at mo ranch the same thing happened to us and as a person that hates scary things I didn't enjoy it at all. This story felt like I was right there while it was happening.
ReplyDeleteThis brings back hilarious moments from Mo Ranch. Our "faith walk" didn't seem to have that much horror within it, but there definitely were a few people who fell after the screaming chaos in pitch darkness.
